Every year, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association gives awards to the best movies and TV shows. The awards, called the Golden Globes, honor filmmakers, TV producers and actors who create great television shows and motion pictures.
Beth and Miguel watched the Golden Globes on TV last Sunday. Listen their discussion to learn all about them!

Miguel: Hey Beth, did you watch the Golden Globes last night?
Beth: I actually missed the Golden Globes, but I watched sort of the preview and the red carpet hype.
Miguel: Oh, right. So did you have a favorite – a star of the red carpet?
Beth: Not really. I mean, I wanted to see it and I missed it. Did you actually watch the whole thing?
Miguel: Yeah. I watched the show, but it was really low-key this year. Like, nobody really said anything or did anything interesting or off the wall. So, it was kinda forgettable.
Beth: That’s cool. So did anyone, uh, stand out as like the superstar of 2003, or not necessarily?
Miguel: Um, I think that Bill Murray was sorta the crowd favorite because I think he’s been, um, around for a long time, but hasn’t been recognized for being brilliant and funny and everything. And then, um, Charlize Theron won for best actress and she looked amazing and I think everyone… or at least she was super super excited and people seemed to feel good for her, you know.
Beth: Well, the best part, I think, about the Golden Globes is hearing what Joan Rivers[/def] has to say the next day. So, I’ll be interested to hear the, uh, wardrobe critique.
Miguel: Yeah, me too. I’m gonna check out some websites to hear about the fashion faux pas.

The biggest winners in this year’s Golden Globes were the Lord of the Rings and Lost in Translation. Both movies took home multiple awards. In addition, Charlize Theron and Sarah Jessica Parker both made a big splash. They both looked incredibly beautiful and won very important awards – Charlize for best actress in a movie and Sarah Jessica for best actress in a comedy TV series.
If you’re a fan of movies and TV, you’ll enjoy watching the Golden Globes. All the biggest stars are dressed to the nines and shining brightly, and it’s lots of fun to see them looking their best.
See you at the movies!
Zach
