Nesting is known as something many pregnant women do. When you want to nest, you want to get your house ready for the new baby. Nesters will become obsessed with their house. They might start painting, cleaning, and organizing for days! This is just like birds collecting sticks and leaves for their own little baby birds.
Other people, however, just like to nest… for themselves. These people are more like homebodies. They like to clean their house and most importantly… they love spending time in it. It is also way more affordable to stay in and binge-watch Netflix. One might call these people old fogies. But maybe, they just really know how to relax.
Marni was just called a nester and took offense. Listen as she and Dominique talk it over in today’s English lesson.

Marni: So, Dominique, somebody recently told me I was a nester because I like to spend time at home. And I thought, I mean, I consider myself a homebody, but nesting? I don’t know, I kind of took offense to that.
Dominique: You should! Nesting means you’re pregnant and getting ready for a new baby to come…
Marni: Right!
Dominique: That’s dumb. We just like to be at our house. We’re homebodies!
Marni: Right! Exactly! I just like to destress by being at home, binge-watching Netflix. Is that so wrong?
Dominique: No, it’s not, and it’s affordable! I like to be at my house! We’re not old fogies. That sounds like what old people like to do: nest at home.
Marni: Right. Wait… is that what’s happening? We’re just getting really old…?
Dominique: Not even! I used to do this from… since I was a little kid! I always liked to be at my house. ‘Dominique, go outside.’ Um, no thank you! I’d rather stay inside the house and read a book!
Marni: There you go. And I think there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s traditional, right? It’s classic!

Someone told Marni she was a nester because she liked to spend time at home. Gasp! I mean, she considers herself a homebody but… she’s not a nester. Dominique is shocked. Marni should take offense. Nesters are pregnant women who are getting their house ready for a baby.
She reassures Marni that she’s not a nester, she’s just a homebody. Marni feels relieved. She just likes to stay at home, destress, and watch Netflix. Dominique tells her they’re not old fogies, they just like their houses. Marni asks Dominique if they’re just getting old or what? No way. They’re just… traditional. It’s who they are.
Are you a homebody? What do you like to do around the house?
