People are always searching for healthy alternatives for cooking, cleaning, and taking care of themselves. One product that has recently become popular for all three activities is coconut oil.

It’s a healthy alternative to other oils, and it tastes great in most foods. It’s a refreshing skin care product. And it can even be used for cleaning your body and your belongings. Although coconut oil is more expensive than other oils, its higher price tag is worth it because you can use it for almost anything.

How do Gary and Jessica use coconut oil? Read today’s English lesson to find out about this all natural, all-purpose product.

Jessica:  I recently started cooking with coconut oil.

Gary:  Oh, no way.

Jessica:  Yeah. I substituted all of the other oils in my kitchen with coconut oil, and it’s supposed to be a really healthy alternative to the other oil.

Gary:  I have an organic coconut oil on the shelf, and I put it on toast.

Jessica:  Yum. I bet that’s delicious.

Gary:  It is so wonderful. It’s got this nice flavor to it.

Jessica:  And while you can eat it, you can use it actually on your skin as well.

Gary:  Yes.

Jessica:  I was told when I go outside in the sun, instead of using sunscreen, you can actually use coconut oil on your skin.

Gary:  I’ve also heard it’s refreshing for your skin as well, so you can actually wash with it, too.

Jessica:  Exactly. And then I actually burned myself the other day in the kitchen. It hurt really badly. But I put coconut oil on it, and it healed right away. I actually made a bunch of gifts last year for the holidays using whipped coconut oil.

Gary:  Is this stuff magic?

Jessica:  I think so. It’s a little expensive, but you can find good deals on it. And it’s worth it.

Gary:  It’s true. I couldn’t agree with you more.

Jessica tells Gary she recently replaced all her cooking oils with coconut oil. It turns out Gary also uses coconut oil in his kitchen. Jessica and Gary both like eating coconut oil, and they also use it for other things. For example, Jessica has used coconut oil instead of sunscreen, and she healed her burned skin with it, too!

Gary asks if coconut oil is magic, and Jessica says she thinks it is. Even though coconut oil costs more than other products, Jessica says it’s worth the extra money.

Do you use coconut oil for anything? Do you think it’s magic?

Sometimes I use coconut oil for cooking. I never tried this for hair, skin or something like this. But I often heard about good effects, so I will try out. Maybe it´s worth it because my current hair oil is too expensive.

I am Iraninan but I live in Germany and here we say Kokosnussöil or Kokosfett J

coconut oil is good for hair care, skin care, stress relief, cholesterol, weight loss, immune system, regulated metabolism. It also provides relief from kidney problems, heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, HIV, and cancer, while helping to improve dental quality and bone strength.

If I want coconut aroma in my coffee, though, I have to buy much more expensive virgin oil.

Kokosfett is used extensively in tropical countries especially India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Philippines etc., and in the 1970s spread by the corn oil and soy oil to Western and Germany.

(I Googled :-))

In our country, coconut oil is used by girls to wear on hair like hair coat. One of my friends usually wear it since she’s childhood, and now her hair is better than the other people including me. And it’s not expensive in our country. However, I don’t like its smell and I don’t wear it my hair.

@Michele1 I do like drinking coconut juice when I m on the beach…! It’s fresh and cool. And not that expensive at all!

I haven’t using coconut oil for anything… We usually use peanut oil or olive oil…  No matter what oils in our country, they are expensive, not to mention the coconut oil! :))

Being or since I am a man, I don’t use the coconut oil for my skin and not even to cook ,because I am able to cook nothing (maybe only one fried egg..) and also because we have thousands  and thousands of  olive plants in central and south Italy. But I like to eat a lot of cold coconut (in a dish with ice) on the summer time ,when I am on the beach. It is so refreshing and it  has a wonderful taste and smell. All the children like to eat the  coconut  fruit also.Yes,it is a little expensive, because there are not coconut plants in many countries ,but  we don’t have to eat a big amount of that….Regards to all friends here.
